The 72-Hour Rush Order That Changed How I Buy Shop Equipment

At 4:47 on a Tuesday afternoon in September 2024, I almost let the call go to voicemail. The shop was quiet, the light was turning orange, and I was already thinking about dinner. Then the screen lit up with a name—an event planner who had sent small fabrication jobs my way for years. Her calls are rarely boring, so I picked up.

“Please tell me you have access to a laser cutter,” she said.

I should have answered honestly. I had a small desktop engraver and a lot of nerve. Instead I asked what she needed.
